The current reason for it being delayed is because of multiplayer bugs, and Gearbox Studios believed that they could have squashed these bugs before the next release date. They pushed it back an extra month to be 100% sure they've fixed most of the bugs.
Even though people are very impaitent nowadays, it's much better for a game to delayed later and and high quality rather than come out to early as a buggy mess.
